Shyam and Lalita (co-founders of Wasta) were one of our very first Calda customers. Initially, they approached us to build an MVP version of their idea, but since then we were together on multiple upgrades and made the app more robust and more scalable.

What is Wasta?

So, what is Wasta and what it does? Wasta helps you build your professional network through 1-on-1 curated meetings with professionals from various industries based on your preferences. Imagine you are looking to raise funds or find a technical co-owner of the company, you would input these preferences during the onboarding phase and based on that we would find you people who are relevant to you. Then based on that, each Wednesday, you get to meet new people who might help you on your business path, through curated 1-on-1 video meetings. A big part of the solution was an integration of a subscription model, which allows Wasta to support their growth by generating money from the very beginning.

Why low-code?

Shyam already had experience building tech startups with budgets above millions, but his main blocker was the time and money necessary to build something meaningful. Instead of raising funds to support their development team or hiring a regular development agency, they looked for low-code solutions, which would allow them to go on the market quickly, prove their idea and then build on that later.

Overall, the whole development process took weeks instead of months and allowed Shyam, Lalita, and their team to bring their product to their users and prove that they have a product-market fit.

We initially launched as a super simple MVP, with Airtable as the main backend tool, but then with the need to scale, Wasta came back to us for a 2.0 version, which would bring a complete switch of the backend structure. Now, Wasta uses Supabase as its primary backend solution.

Wasta today

The results? Wasta successfully launched their MVP and a 2.0 version, acquired thousands of users, and is now collaborating with TikTok for Business to bring businesses in the MENA region closer to TikTok.

5.0

Everything was great!
